For this week’s interview we interviewed our first Brazilian player, Ellinton Antonio Costa Morais, better known as Liliu. He already played for a lot of clubs in Brasil and in Europe: Sao Bento, Desp. Brasil, Westerlo, Al-Nasr, CRB, Ethnikos Achnas, Hapoel Raanana, Birkirkara FC and nowadays he plays for Nea Salamina.
He already won the Maltese FA Trophy and the Maltese Supercup (2014/15) and became runner-up in the Maltese Supercup (15/16) and in the Belgian Cupfinal with Westerlo against Standard de Liege (10/11).
Who is the best player you ever played against?
I’m sure it must be Kevin de Bruyne!
Which is your favourite stadium? Which stadium gives you the best memories?
At the start of this season we played at Upton Park, West Ham and in 2011 I played in the Belgian national stadium during the cupfinal.
You already played in many continents. Europe, Asia & Africa. Which competition do you prefer? Are there big differences?
I prefer the Belgian league! The difference is the high level of players, the full stadiums, the media.. it makes the level of the league much higher and better.
Ur playing now for NEA Salamina in Cyprus. How is the atmosphere in the stadiums in Cyprus?
It’s good, especially when you play against big clubs, most of the times the attendances are very high and the fans create great atmosphere, the Cypriots love football just as everybody else in the world.
Do you miss playing in Belgium? How was it to play in Westerlo?
I do, it was a great experience which gave me a lot of good things as a player and as a person, I wish I can come back one day. I know I left a good image of myself and people still remember that.
If you could pick any team in the world to sign you for next season, which team would you go to?
It must be Real Madrid. I believe it is the dream of many players.
