White Star Wommersom arose in 1969 as table football club but joined the KBLVB to start playing “real” football. In 1976 the club joined the Belgian FA and after 3 years the first title was won. In 2000 the club got promoted for the first time to the 2nd provincial level but they relegated the following season. In 2005 the club gained again promotion to the 2nd level and this time they remained in this league for 10 successive seasons.
Bad news in 2015, as WS Wommersom goes into liquidation. The club is in a bad financial situation and wants to start over, without debts. After the restart at the 4th level, the club played a very good season, with a 2nd place as the end result, behind Verbroedering Boutersem. But in retrospect it was a very expensive season, with barely 2 lost games out of 30. The 2017/18 season was started at the 3rd level, where they became 12th with 35 points.
The 2018-2019 season is getting off to a good start and the club has even been in the top 3 for a while. But just before the winter break, bad news is popping up again: "White Star Wommersom ceases to exist!", Says the club site on 20 December 2018 "Again?" Was probably the first reaction for many. But given the current state of the field, the changing rooms and the canteen, it seems this time really, completely over, exactly 1 season before the former club of ex-international Tom Soetaers would celebrate its 50th anniversary.
The ground on the Kleine Broekstraat has always been used by WS Wommersom but its future destination is still unknown.
